Cosa sono
I pronomi riflessivi indicano che il soggetto compie e riceve l’azione. In italiano corrispondono a se stesso e si usano con i verbi riflessivi. Identificano chi è coinvolto nell’azione insieme al verbo.
Reflexive pronouns indicate that the subject performs and receives the action. In Italian they correspond to themselves and are used with reflexive verbs. They identify who is involved in the action together with the verb.
Forme base
I pronomi riflessivi base sono mi, ti, si, ci, vi, si. Cambiano in base alla persona singolare o plurale. Si collocano vicino al verbo e mantengono il legame con il soggetto.
The base reflexive pronouns are me, you, himself/herself/yourself, us, you (plural), themselves. They vary depending on singular or plural. They are placed near the verb and maintain the link with the subject.

Posizione
Coniugando il verbo, il pronome riflessivo viene prima del verbo: mi lavo, ci svegliamo. Con l’infinito, il gerundio e l’imperativo può legarsi al verbo: lavarsi, svegliandosi, siediti. La scelta dipende dalla forma verbale usata.
When conjugating the verb, the reflexive pronoun comes before the verb: me lavo, ci svegliamo. With the infinitive, the gerund, and the imperative it can be attached to the verb: lavarsi, svegliandosi, siediti. The choice depends on the verb form used.

Verbi riflessivi
I verbi riflessivi si costruiscono con un pronome riflessivo e indicano che il soggetto fa qualcosa a se stesso. In italiano si riconoscono dalla forma pronominale, come lavarsi o vestirsi. La costruzione mantiene il significato di azione su se stessi.
Reflexive verbs are formed with a reflexive pronoun and indicate that the subject does something to itself. In Italian they are recognized by the pronominal form, such as lavarsi or vestirsi. The construction maintains the meaning of an action on oneself.

Presente
Al presente, il pronome riflessivo si usa insieme al verbo coniugato. La combinazione segue la persona: mi chiamo, ti alzi, si veste. La regolarità sta nell’associare il pronome giusto alla forma verbale.
In the present tense, the reflexive pronoun is used together with the conjugated verb. The combination follows the person: mi chiamo, ti alzi, si veste. The regularity lies in attaching the right pronoun to the verb form.

Passato prossimo
Con il passato prossimo, i verbi riflessivi usano di solito l’ausiliare essere. Il participio passato può concordare con il soggetto in genere e numero. La struttura tipica è: pronome riflessivo + essere + participio.
With the present perfect, reflexive verbs usually use the auxiliary be. The past participle can agree with the subject in gender and number. The typical structure is: reflexive pronoun + be + past participle.

Riflessivo o non
Alcuni verbi cambiano significato con o senza il pronome riflessivo. La forma senza pronome può essere transitiva o avere senso diverso. La scelta del pronome cambia quale partecipa all’azione come destinatario.
Some verbs change meaning with or without the reflexive pronoun. The form without the pronoun can be transitive or have a different sense. The choice of pronoun changes which participant in the action is the recipient.

Riflessivo reciproco
Con noi e voi e spesso con loro, i pronomi riflessivi possono esprimere valore reciproco. In questo uso il significato è “l’uno l’altro” e si basa su ci, vi, si. Il contesto chiarisce se l’azione è reciproca o solo riflessiva.
With us and you (plural) and often with them, reflexive pronouns can express reciprocal value. In this use the meaning is “one another” and it is based on ci, vi, si. The context clarifies whether the action is reciprocal or only reflexive.
