Davanti al verbo finito, il pronome indiretto precede la forma verbale coniugata. Con l’infinito e il gerundio, invece, si lega alla forma verbale come enclitico. Questa collocazione è fondamentale anche per Pronomi Combinati, dove l’ordine dei pronomi segue la stessa logica di base.

Indirect pronouns are used with verbs that naturally take the person introduced by a, such as parlare, dire, dare, telefonare, and rispondere. In these cases the pronoun replaces the indirect object without changing the basic meaning of the verb. The same structure is common with reflexive and pronominal forms, where the referent receives or involves the action in a more complex way.

Loro dopo il verbo è una soluzione formale e oggi è rara nel parlato comune. Nella lingua quotidiana si preferisce gli anche quando il referente è plurale, perché è più naturale e compatto. Quando c’è rischio di ambiguità, è utile ripetere il nome introdotto da a per rendere chiaro il referente.

Putting 'loro' after the verb is a formal solution and today is rare in everyday speech. In everyday language, 'gli' is preferred even when the referent is plural, because it is more natural and concise. When there is a risk of ambiguity, it is useful to repeat the name introduced by 'a' to make the referent clear.
