Overview of landscapes
A landscape is what you see in a natural place or in a region. One can speak of a mountain landscape, a rural landscape, a seascape or a desert landscape. Everyday words are used to name the place itself, and then to say whether it is green, dry, flat, rocky or wooded. For a more literary description, one uses picturesque, majestic or wild. The Nature are often the starting point for describing what one observes around oneself.
Relief and height
The mountain is a large elevation of the ground. A hill is lower and gentler. A valley lies between higher reliefs. A plateau is high, but its surface remains fairly flat. A plain is a wide and lightly uneven terrain. We say a deep valley, a high mountain, a vast plateau, an open plain. In the Places, these words help to situate a region and understand its general shape.
