Perguntas servem para pedir informação. Uma pergunta pode pedir uma pessoa, uma coisa, um lugar, um tempo, um modo ou uma razão. Na fala, a voz normalmente sobe no fim da pergunta.
Questions are used to request information. A question can ask for a person, a thing, a place, a time, a way, or a reason. In speech, the voice typically rises at the end of the question.
As palavras interrogativas mostram o tipo de informação que a pergunta pede. Elas ficam muitas vezes no início da frase. Cada palavra tem uma função simples e clara.
Interrogative words show the type of information that the question asks for. They are often placed at the start of the sentence. Each word has a simple and clear function.

Many simple questions use the same order as the declarative sentence. The difference is seen by the question mark in writing and by the intonation in speech. The interrogative word can come at the beginning to mark the question.
