For counting simple objects, start with zero, then one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten. After ten, the numbers continue with eleven, twelve, thirteen, fourteen, fifteen, sixteen, seventeen, eighteen, nineteen, twenty. In a shop, on a table or in a list, these forms are used to say how many things there are. With the Numerical adjectives, you also recognize them when they accompany a noun: two apples, four coffees, ten books. The numbers stay the same for counting people, objects, or places.

In speech, you often hear these forms in shops, schedules, and prices. When a number is larger, you can read it by groups: sixty + twelve gives sixty-two. To say your age, say I have + age. For example: I am twenty years old. We use avoir with age, not être. To ask someone’s age, say What age are you? in a simple conversation, or What age do you have? to speak politely to someone you don’t know well. The answer repeats the same structure: I am eight years old, I am thirty years old. The numbers you learned are used here in a very common everyday life sentence.
