Gli avverbi sono parole invariabili che modificano un verbo, un aggettivo, un altro avverbio o tutta la frase. In italiano molti avverbi si formano da aggettivi, ma altri non derivano da nessun aggettivo. Alcune forme coincidono con aggettivi o con altre parole, quindi il contesto decide il loro valore.

Molti avverbi di modo si formano aggiungendo -mente alla forma femminile singolare dell’aggettivo. Se l’aggettivo termina in -o, si usa la forma in -a prima di -mente. Se l’aggettivo termina già in -e, la forma resta invariata prima di -mente.
Many adverbs of manner are formed by adding -mente to the feminine singular form of the adjective. If the adjective ends in -o, the form in -a is used before -mente. If the adjective already ends in -e, the form remains unchanged before -mente.

L’avverbio è invariabile e non cambia per maschile o femminile. Quando nasce da un aggettivo, la base usata per formarlo può essere femminile singolare, ma l’avverbio finale resta fisso. Per questo una volta formato non concorda con altre parole della frase.
