Overview of urban life
Life in the city revolves around very common words such as street, neighborhood, stop, store and service. With them one talks about what is around, where something is and what is done every day. In Vida Cotidiana many of the activities that occur in the city appear: shopping, going to work, running errands or meeting someone. They also serve to understand simple messages like is near, is far or I’m going to the center.
Places in the city
The streets are the most common roads, and an avenida is usually wider and more important. A plaza is an open space where people gather, and a parque is a green area for walking or resting. Barrio names a part of the city, such as the neighborhood where you live or where you work. A centro can be the city center or a shopping center. In urban language you also see names like rotonda, esquina and cruce, useful for talking about Directions and Localizations.
