Ritmo
El ritmo es la repetición regular de elementos sonoros en un texto. En poesía, el ritmo se crea con la distribución de acentos y la duración de los versos. También influye la organización de pausas internas y el orden de las palabras. El ritmo puede ser más marcado o más flexible según el género y la intención del poema.

Métrica
La métrica es el sistema que mide la cantidad de sílabas en un verso. En español, se cuenta el número de sílabas métricas, no solo las sílabas gramaticales. La métrica organiza los versos en patrones y facilita la creación de estrofas. Los versos más comunes se nombran por su número de sílabas, como octosílabo y endecasílabo.
Meter is the system that measures the number of syllables in a line. In Spanish, the number of metric syllables is counted, not only the grammatical syllables. Meter organizes lines into patterns and facilitates the creation of stanzas. The most common lines are named by their number of syllables, such as octosyllabic and hendecasyllabic.

Sílabas métricas
Las sílabas métricas se cuentan según el sonido, teniendo en cuenta fenómenos como la sinalefa. La sinalefa une la vocal final de una palabra con la vocal inicial de la siguiente en la misma emisión de voz. La diéresis separa un diptongo para aumentar el conteo silábico. La sinéresis une vocales dentro de una palabra para reducir el conteo. Estos recursos permiten ajustar la métrica sin cambiar el significado.
Metrical syllables are counted according to sound, taking into account phenomena such as sinalefa. Sinalefa joins the final vowel of one word with the initial vowel of the next in the same breath. Diaeresis separates a diphthong to count two metrical syllables. Syneresis joins vowels within a word into a single metrical syllable. These resources allow adjusting the meter without changing the meaning.

Acento métrico
El acento métrico es el acento principal que organiza el ritmo dentro del verso. En versos largos como el endecasílabo, existen posiciones tradicionales donde suele aparecer el acento. El patrón de acentos crea una sensación de regularidad, aunque puede admitir variaciones. El acento métrico se diferencia del acento ortográfico, que marca la pronunciación de palabras individuales.
