What are sports
Sports are physical activities with rules, movement, and a clear objective. They can be done to compete, to have fun, or to stay in shape. In the outdoors they appear in parks, beaches, mountains, rivers, and open fields. In this category fall Team Sports, races, long hikes, and many adventure activities. Some are practiced alone, like running or cycling; others are done with more people, like playing soccer in a park or rowing in a group. When we talk about sport, verbs like hacer, practicar, and jugar usually appear. The word entrenar is also used when the activity has a more serious or repeated routine.
Mountain Sports
In the mountain, sport is usually linked to the terrain, height, and physical effort. Hacer senderismo is walking along marked routes or natural paths, sometimes for several hours. Escalar consists of climbing rocks or walls with the help of hands, feet, and equipment. Montar en bici on trails or dirt roads requires balance and endurance. alpinismo is also used for more demanding ascents in high areas. If the route has slopes, rocks, or mud, the vocabulary changes a lot: route, summit, trail, cliff, and valley are common words. In a landscape of Landscapes, the mountain is usually linked to effort, open views, and variable weather.

Water Sports
Water sports are practiced on the water, in the water, or next to the sea and lakes. Surf is sliding on a wave with a board. Paddle surf is done standing on a long board with a paddle. Kayak uses a small boat propelled with a paddle. Nadar in the sea or in a lake is a sport and also recreational activity. In this group words like ola, remo, tabla, orilla and boya appear. Jugar fútbol often appears with or without the preposition a depending on the region, and jugar al fútbol is the most widespread form. Paddle surf can also be heard as surf de remo or remo de pie.
