O estilo direto mostra as palavras ou os pensamentos como foram ditos ou imaginados. Ele é usado para reproduzir falas, citações e pensamentos. A fala reproduzida aparece marcada por aspas ou por travessão, com pontuação adequada.
Direct style shows the words or thoughts as they were said or imagined. It is used to reproduce speech, quotations and thoughts. The reproduced speech appears marked by quotation marks or by an em dash, with appropriate punctuation.
Use o estilo direto quando você quer apresentar a fala exata de uma pessoa. Ele também serve para citar palavras escritas e para mostrar um pensamento de forma direta. Nesse estilo, o conteúdo reproduzido mantém a forma original da mensagem.
Use direct style when you want to present a person's exact speech. It also serves to quote written words and to show a thought directly. In this style, the reproduced content keeps the original form of the message.

In direct style, speech appears as it was said. In indirect style, the speech is told by the narrator, without repeating exactly the original words. In direct style, quotation marks, em dash and colon are common.

As aspas marcam uma fala, uma citação ou um pensamento reproduzido de modo exato. Elas mostram onde o trecho citado começa e termina. Quando a fala vem dentro de um texto corrido, as aspas são uma marca comum.
The quotation marks mark speech, a quotation or a thought reproduced exactly. They show where the quoted passage begins and ends. When the speech appears within running text, quotation marks are a common mark.

The em dash is frequently used in dialogues. It marks the entrance of each character's speech. Colons can appear before the speech when a saying verb introduces it.

No estilo direto, a fala copiada normalmente mantém pronomes, tempos verbais e advérbios do modo original. Quando alguém reproduz exatamente uma fala, não é necessário adaptar essas formas ao narrador. O ajuste dessas palavras é mais comum no estilo indireto.
In direct style, copied speech typically keeps pronouns, verb tenses and adverbs in the original form. When someone reproduces speech exactly, it is not necessary to adapt these forms to the narrator. The adjustment of these words is more common in indirect style.
