Qué es negar

Una oración negativa dice que una acción no pasa, que algo no existe o que una persona no quiere algo. En español, la negación básica usa palabras como no, nadie, nunca y tampoco. Estas palabras cambian el sentido de la oración a negativo.

A negative sentence says that an action does not happen, that something does not exist, or that a person does not want something. In Spanish, basic negation uses words like no, nobody, never, and neither. These words change the meaning of the sentence to negative.

No con verbo

La palabra no va antes del verbo conjugado en oraciones simples. Esta es la forma más básica para negar en español. El orden normal es sujeto más no más verbo, o no más verbo si el sujeto no aparece.

The word no goes before the conjugated verb in simple sentences. This is the most basic way to negate in Spanish. The normal order is subject plus no plus verb, or no plus verb if the subject does not appear.

Ningún y nadie

Ningún y nadie sirven para negar existencia o presencia. Ningún va con un sustantivo masculino singular. Nadie se usa para hablar de personas y funciona como pronombre.

None and nobody are used to negate existence or presence. None goes with a masculine singular noun. Nobody is used to talk about people and functions as a pronoun.

Nunca y tampoco

Nunca niega frecuencia o tiempo y expresa que algo no pasa en ningún momento. Tampoco añade una negación y significa que algo no ocurre igual que en otra oración negativa. Las dos palabras forman oraciones negativas simples.

Never negates frequency or time and expresses that something does not happen at any moment. Neither adds a negation and means that something does not occur, just as in another negative sentence. The two words form simple negative sentences.

Orden negativo

En oraciones simples, la negación aparece antes del verbo o en el lugar de la palabra que niega. No va antes del verbo conjugado. Nadie, nunca y tampoco también forman parte del orden negativo de la oración.

In simple sentences, negation appears before the verb or in the place of the word that negates. It does not go before the conjugated verb. Nobody, never and neither also form part of the negative order of the sentence.
