Qué expresa

El futuro simple habla de acciones futuras desde el momento de hablar. También expresa predicciones, promesas, ofertas y decisiones tomadas en ese momento. En muchos contextos, el español usa también el presente o la perífrasis ir a más infinitivo para hablar del futuro. La elección depende del contexto y de la intención del hablante.

The simple future tense talks about future actions from the moment of speaking. It also expresses predictions, promises, offers, and decisions made at that moment. In many contexts, Spanish also uses the present or the ir a + infinitive periphrase to talk about the future. The choice depends on the context and on the speaker's intention.

Formación regular

El futuro simple se forma con el infinitivo completo y las mismas terminaciones para todos los verbos regulares. No se quita la terminación del infinitivo. Por eso, hablar, comer y vivir usan el mismo grupo de terminaciones.

The simple future is formed with the full infinitive and the same endings for all regular verbs. The ending of the infinitive is not removed. Therefore, speak, eat and live use the same group of endings.

Irregulares comunes

Algunos verbos cambian la base en futuro simple, pero mantienen las mismas terminaciones. Estos verbos son muy frecuentes. Conviene reconocer la base nueva porque no sigue el infinitivo completo.

Some verbs change the stem in the simple future, but keep the same endings. These verbs are very frequent. It is useful to recognize the new stem because it does not follow the full infinitive.

Predicción

El futuro simple se usa para decir lo que el hablante cree que pasará. También puede expresar una suposición sobre una situación futura. En algunos contextos, este valor se acerca a una idea de probabilidad y no a una certeza total.

The simple future is used to say what the speaker thinks will happen. It can also express a supposition about a future situation. In some contexts, this value approaches an idea of probability and not total certainty.

El futuro simple también sirve para promesas, ofertas y decisiones espontáneas. En este uso, la acción nace en el momento de hablar. Es frecuente cuando el hablante se compromete o responde inmediatamente a una situación.

The simple future also serves for promises, offers and spontaneous decisions. In this use, the action arises at the moment of speaking. It is common when the speaker commits or responds immediately to a situation.

Otras formas

Para hablar del futuro, el español no usa solo el futuro simple. El presente puede expresar planes fijados y la perífrasis ir a más infinitivo suele expresar intención o un futuro cercano. En el uso real, estas formas alternan con el futuro simple y a veces la diferencia es pequeña. No siempre hay una separación rígida entre ellas.

To talk about the future, Spanish does not use only the simple future. The present can express fixed plans and the infinitive periphrase ir a + infinitive usually expresses intention or a near future. In real use, these forms alternate with the simple future and sometimes the difference is small. There is not always a rigid separation between them.

Pronombres y adverbios

En oraciones con futuro simple, los pronombres van normalmente antes del verbo conjugado. Los adverbios de tiempo o de modo pueden ir al inicio, en medio o al final, según la información que se quiere destacar. El futuro simple no cambia esta colocación básica.

In sentences with the simple future, pronouns normally come before the conjugated verb. Time or manner adverbs can come at the beginning, in the middle, or at the end, depending on the information one wants to emphasize. The simple future does not change this basic word order.
