The German months of the year are:
  • January: Januar
  • February: Februar
  • March: März
  • April: April
  • May: Mai
  • June: Juni
  • July: Juli
  • August: August
  • September: September
  • October: Oktober
  • November: November
  • December: Dezember
They are all capitalized (like all German nouns) and most are very similar to their English counterparts.

Usage

  • When stating a date, Germans often use the day first, then the month: 14. März (14th March).
  • Months are not preceded by an article in simple date expressions: Ich habe im Mai Geburtstag. (I have a birthday in May.)
  • For "in [month]" use the dative: im Januar, im Februar... (im = in + dem).
April
