The German months of the year are:
- January: Januar
- February: Februar
- March: März
- April: April
- May: Mai
- June: Juni
- July: Juli
- August: August
- September: September
- October: Oktober
- November: November
- December: Dezember
They are all capitalized (like all German nouns) and most are very similar to their English counterparts.
Usage
- When stating a date, Germans often use the day first, then the month: 14. März (14th March).
- Months are not preceded by an article in simple date expressions: Ich habe im Mai Geburtstag. (I have a birthday in May.)
- For "in [month]" use the dative: im Januar, im Februar... (im = in + dem).
