Los adjetivos indefinidos acompañan a un sustantivo y expresan cantidad, identidad o referencia imprecisa. No indican un número exacto ni una identificación completa. En español, suelen ir antes del sustantivo. Algunas formas también pueden funcionar como pronombres indefinidos, y el contexto marca la diferencia.

Sentido general

Estos adjetivos pueden presentar un valor amplio, limitado o negativo según el contexto. Unos hablan de existencia o cantidad sin precisión, como algún, varios o ciertos. Otros marcan una idea de totalidad o distribución, como cada o todo. También existen formas negativas, como ningún, que niegan la existencia del sustantivo.

Posición

La posición más frecuente de los adjetivos indefinidos es antes del sustantivo. Esta colocación es la normal con formas como algún, ningún, cada, todo, varios y ciertos. En algunos casos, otras palabras cercanas pueden parecer indefinidas, pero no siempre funcionan como adjetivos si no acompañan directamente al sustantivo.

The most common position of indefinite adjectives is before the noun. This placement is standard with forms such as some, none, each, all, several, and certain. Límites

No toda palabra de cantidad imprecisa es necesariamente un adjetivo indefinido. Algunas formas se acercan a los cuantitativos, y otras también actúan como pronombres. En varias gramáticas, la clasificación de ciertas palabras puede cambiar según el análisis. Por eso, es mejor fijarse en la función concreta dentro de la oración que en una lista totalmente cerrada.

Not every word of imprecise quantity is necessarily an indefinite adjective. Some forms approach quantifiers, and others also act as pronouns. In various grammars, the classification of certain words can change depending on analysis. Therefore, it is better to focus on the concrete function within the sentence rather than a completely closed list.
