Everything Go Loco does, written for the person using it.

Most people who set out to learn a language stall in the same place, and it is rarely vocabulary and it is rarely grammar. They stall because they can read a sentence and still cannot say one, and nothing in an ordinary week ever asks them to try, so the gap never closes. Go Loco is built the other way around: you produce language from the first session, something answers you back in real time, and every correction you collect turns into a page that explains it properly. These pages are the map of that. If you have just arrived, read Your First Session, and if you are deciding whether to bother, Voice Scenarios is the part most people put off for months and the part fluency comes from.

About Go Loco

Why any of this is worth your time

Learning a language is the rare skill where the last stretch is worth more than everything before it, because a conversation either happens or it does not. Reading a menu, following a film, and understanding a sign are all real achievements, and all of them leave you silent at the table. The balance tips at the moment you stop translating in your head and start reaching for the target language directly.

What actually moves you there

One thing moves you toward that moment, and it is producing language under mild pressure, over and over, and being corrected every time. Arranging that for yourself is miserable, which is why most people never get there. A teacher can arrange it, and an hour with one costs more than a month of almost anything else and is on offer for one of the seven days in your week. An app can arrange it too, provided it asks you to speak and not to tap the matching tile.

What makes this different from the app you abandoned

The apps most people have already given up on are built around recognition, where you are shown a sentence and asked to pick the one that matches. Recognition stops transferring somewhere around the point it would start being useful, and that is the wall people hit at roughly the same time every year.

Production, and what it lets the app know

Go Loco is built around language production: you say the thing, you write the thing, and you are told what was wrong with it. Everything the app knows about you comes from language you produced, which is why the level estimate tends to feel uncomfortably accurate. The teaching is generated for the level you are at, so the textbook has no fixed size and you are never stuck between a chapter that is too easy and the one after it that is too hard.
