Na voz reflexiva, o sujeito faz a ação e também recebe essa ação. Em «Eu me lavo», a pessoa lava o próprio corpo. Isso é diferente da voz ativa, em que a ação vai para outra pessoa ou coisa. Também é diferente da voz passiva, em que o sujeito recebe a ação de outro agente.
In the reflexive voice, the subject performs the action and also receives that action. In 'I wash myself', the person washes their own body. This is different from the active voice, in which the action goes to another person or thing. It is also different from the passive voice, in which the subject receives the action from another agent.
A voz reflexiva usa pronomes reflexivos ligados ao sujeito. Os pronomes mais usados são me, te, se, nos e vos. Em português atual do Brasil, «vos» é raro, mas a forma existe na descrição tradicional. «Se» também pode aparecer com ele, ela, você, vocês e eles.

Muitos verbos podem aparecer na voz reflexiva quando a ação volta para o próprio sujeito. Alguns verbos são muito comuns nesse uso em ações do corpo e da rotina diária. Em outros casos, a fronteira entre uso reflexivo e verbo pronominal não é totalmente fixa, e o contexto decide a leitura mais natural.

O pronome reflexivo pode ficar antes ou depois do verbo, conforme a estrutura da frase e o estilo. No português do Brasil, a posição antes do verbo é muito comum em frases do dia a dia. Em registros mais formais e em muitos contextos de Portugal, a posição depois do verbo também aparece com frequência.

Nem todo verbo com pronome é claramente reflexivo. Em «Ele se levantou», muitas pessoas entendem que o sujeito faz a ação sobre o próprio corpo. Em outros verbos, como «queixar-se», o pronome faz parte da forma do verbo, e a ideia de ação sobre si mesmo fica mais fraca ou desaparece. Por isso, a análise pode variar entre gramáticas e entre falantes.
Not every verb with a pronoun is clearly reflexive. In 'He got up', many people understand that the subject performs the action on their own body. In other verbs, such as 'to complain' (queixar-se), the pronoun is part of the verb form, and the idea of action on oneself becomes weaker or disappears. Therefore, analysis can vary between grammars and among speakers.
