Due registri
In italiano si parla di registro formale quando si comunica con distanza e rispetto, e di registro informale quando si comunica con familiarità e parità. La scelta del registro cambia il lessico, la sintassi e i pronomi usati. Nella vita quotidiana si passa spesso da un registro all’altro in base a chi si ha di fronte.

Tu e Lei

Verbi e concordanza
Con "tu" si coniuga il verbo alla seconda persona singolare. Con "Lei" si coniuga il verbo alla terza persona singolare, anche se ci si sta rivolgendo direttamente a qualcuno. La concordanza rimane costante all’interno della stessa conversazione se si mantiene lo stesso registro.
With 'tu' the verb is conjugated in the second person singular. With 'Lei' the verb is conjugated in the third person singular, even though you are addressing someone directly. The agreement remains constant within the same conversation if you maintain the same register.
