Longitud
La longitud es la medida de una distancia entre dos puntos. En español, usamos unidades específicas para describir longitudes pequeñas, medianas y grandes. Elegimos la unidad según el tamaño de lo que medimos. Las unidades se pueden combinar con números para dar medidas exactas.

Metro

Centímetro

Conversión
Las unidades del sistema métrico se relacionan por múltiplos de diez. Para convertir, usamos reglas fijas: mil milímetros son un metro, cien centímetros son un metro y mil metros son un kilómetro. Estas equivalencias permiten cambiar de unidad sin cambiar la longitud real.
The units of the metric system relate to powers of ten. Uso con números
En español, ponemos el número antes de la unidad y usamos el símbolo sin punto final. El símbolo se escribe junto al número con un espacio fino. En frases, podemos usar la palabra completa o el símbolo según el contexto.

Comparación
Para comparar longitudes, usamos palabras como más largo, más corto, igual y diferencia. También podemos transformar las medidas a la misma unidad antes de comparar. En contextos cotidianos, suele ser práctico comparar en metros o centímetros según el tamaño.
