Adverbs are non-inflectable words that specify statements more precisely or connect entire sentences. In sentence constructions they appear as a sentence element, as part of a clause, or as a link between two thoughts. For correct usage, function and position in the sentence are decisive.
Adverbien können eine Handlung, einen Umstand oder die Haltung des Sprechers markieren. Sie beziehen sich auf ein Verb, ein Adjektiv, ein anderes Adverb oder auf den ganzen Satz. Dadurch entstehen verschiedene Satzkonstruktionen mit unterschiedlicher Bedeutung.
Adverbs can mark an action, a circumstance, or the speaker's attitude. They refer to a verb, an adjective, another adverb, or to the whole sentence. As a result, different sentence constructions with different meanings arise.

Ein Adverb kann allein ein Satzglied bilden. Dann beantwortet es eine Frage wie wann, wo, wie oder warum. In dieser Funktion kann es im Vorfeld, Mittelfeld oder Nachfeld stehen.
An adverb can form a sentence element by itself. It then answers a question such as when, where, how, or why. In this function it can stand in the pre-field, middle field, or post-field.

Some adverbs logically connect two independent statements. They often appear at the beginning of the sentence and refer to the previous sentence. Such adverbs create relationships such as addition, contrast, consequence, or restriction.

Die Stellung von Adverbien hängt von der Satzart und von ihrer Funktion ab. Im Aussagesatz kann ein Adverb im Vorfeld stehen und besetzt dann die erste Position. In Fragesätzen und Nebensätzen richtet sich seine Position nach der Verbform und nach der Struktur des Satzes.
The placement of adverbs depends on the type of sentence and on their function. In a declarative sentence, an adverb can stand in the front field and then occupy the first position. In questions and subordinate clauses, its position depends on the verb form and on the structure of the sentence.

Adverbien können mit Hauptsätzen und Nebensätzen kombiniert werden, wenn sie den ganzen Zusammenhang strukturieren. Dabei markieren sie zum Beispiel Folge, Gegensatz oder zeitliche Ordnung. Das Adverb gehört dann meist zum Hauptsatz und der Nebensatz ergänzt die Aussage.
Adverbs can be combined with main clauses and subordinate clauses when they structure the whole context. They mark, for example, consequence, contrast, or chronological order. The adverb then usually belongs to the main clause and the subordinate clause complements the statement.
