Ein komplexer Satz besteht aus einem Hauptsatz und mindestens einem Nebensatz. Der Hauptsatz kann allein stehen und hat das konjugierte Verb an zweiter Stelle. Der Nebensatz kann nicht allein stehen und hat das konjugierte Verb am Ende.
A complex sentence consists of a main clause and at least one subordinate clause. The main clause can stand alone and has the conjugated verb in the second position. The subordinate clause cannot stand alone and has the conjugated verb at the end.
Ein Nebensatz ist ein Satzteil in einer lÀngeren Aussage. Er gibt oft einen Grund, eine Zeit, eine Bedingung oder eine ErgÀnzung an. Man erkennt ihn oft an einer Einleitung und an der Verbform am Ende.
A subordinate clause is a part of a longer statement. It often indicates a reason, a time, a condition, or an addition. It is often recognizable by an introductory word and by the verb form at the end.
