Ritmo
Ritmo é a organização sonora que se repete ou se alterna em um texto, criando previsibilidade ou variação. Ele surge da regularidade de sílabas, acentos e pausas na fala ou na escrita. Na poesia, o ritmo guia a leitura e pode sugerir velocidade, estabilidade ou tensão. A prosa também pode usar ritmo, mas de forma menos fixa que a poesia.
Rhythm is the sonic organization that repeats or alternates in a text, creating predictability or variation. It arises from the regularity of syllables, accents, and pauses in speech or writing. In poetry, rhythm guides reading and can suggest speed, stability, or tension. Prose can also use rhythm, but less rigidly than poetry.

Métrica
Métrica é a contagem regular de sílabas poéticas em cada verso. No português, a métrica tradicional soma sílabas até a última sílaba tônica do verso, chamada de regra do verso. A métrica organiza os versos em padrões como redondilha, decassílabo e alexandrino. A escolha da métrica define a base sonora sobre a qual o ritmo se apoia.
Meter is the regular counting of poetic syllables in each line. In Portuguese, traditional meter counts syllables up to the last stressed syllable of the line, called the verse rule. Meter organizes lines into patterns such as redondilha, decasyllable, and Alexandrine. The choice of meter defines the sonic base on which rhythm rests.

Sílabas poéticas
Sílabas poéticas são unidades de contagem usadas na métrica e nem sempre coincidem com sílabas gramaticais. A contagem poética une palavras por elisão e por ligação natural da fala, evitando pausas artificiais. A contagem vai até a última sílaba tônica do verso, que encerra a métrica daquele verso. A análise de sílabas poéticas facilita identificar padrões métricos.
Poetic syllables are counting units used in meter and do not always coincide with grammatical syllables. The poetic count links words through elision and the natural linking of speech, avoiding artificial pauses. The count goes up to the last stressed syllable of the verse, which ends the meter of that verse. The analysis of poetic syllables helps identify metric patterns.

Verso
Verso é cada linha organizada por ritmo e, na poesia métrica, por contagem de sílabas poéticas. Um poema é formado por uma sequência de versos, que podem ou não manter um padrão fixo. A identificação do verso como unidade facilita analisar ritmo, métrica e escolhas sonoras. Pausas internas e finais de verso colaboram para o desenho rítmico do poema.
A verse is each line organized by rhythm and, in metric poetry, by the counting of poetic syllables. A poem is formed by a sequence of verses, which may or may not maintain a fixed pattern. Identifying the verse as a unit helps analyze rhythm, meter, and sonic choices. Internal pauses and the end of a verse contribute to the rhythmic shaping of the poem.

Soltura
Soltura é o uso intencional de variação métrica ou de ritmo menos rígido para criar efeito expressivo. Poemas com soltura podem misturar versos de diferentes comprimentos ou flexibilizar a contagem sem abandonar o ritmo. A soltura valoriza a musicalidade da língua e as escolhas de ênfase, mesmo sem métrica fixa. Ler com atenção à cadência mantém o sentido rítmico mesmo em textos mais livres.
Flexibility is the intentional use of variation in meter or less rigid rhythm to create expressive effect. Poems with flexibility may mix lines of different lengths or relax the counting without abandoning the rhythm. Flexibility values the musicality of the language and the emphasis choices, even without fixed meter. Reading with attention to cadence maintains the rhythmic sense even in freer texts.
